Platform for development of school volunteering

The Platform is the nonformal network of educational institutions and civil society organisation in Croatia, acting as a place of education, exchange and advocacy towards the decision makers.

The purpose of the Platform is to support educational institutions and civil society organisation in development and sustainable work of the school volunteer clubs, as a proven tool for practical education of children and youth on topics such as active citizenship, social justice and social inclusion of vulnerable groups.

It was established in 2023, throughout the same name project, by partners Local Democracy Agency Sisak, Vocational School SisakHuman Rights House Zagreb and Norsensus Mediaforum from Norway. The project Platform for development of school volunteering is supported by financial support through the Active Citizens Fund, funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway through the EEA Grants

Society that provides opportunities for children and youth to accomplish their potentials and grow into active and solidary citizens.

Platform for development of school volunteering contributes to development of inclusive community by networking and supporting schools and civil society organisations for practical education of children and youth on active citizenship through volunteering.

What we do

  • networking, exchange of good practice and development of joint activities that contributes to professional training and education of members’ staff and volunteers,
  • development of innovative volunteer’ activities in accordance to the objectives and values of the Platform,
  • advocacy towards decision makers on improvement of conditions for recognition and validation of school volunteering,
  • promotion of volunteering by informing and motivating citizens for volunteer’ engagement,
  • coordination and networking of school’ volunteer clubs with the local community and fundraising for the Platform’ activities,
  • validation of the members’ volunteer activities and engagement data keeping,
  • cooperation with schools and civil society organisations at national and international level.

Advocacy objectives:

Platform for development of school volunteering advocates better conditions for recognition and validation of school volunteering, focusing on civic education, throughout following measures addressed to decision-makers:

  1. Establishment of the Annual Volunteer Award at the level of the Sisak-Moslavina County, with dedicated category for volunteering in educational institutions.

 

  1. Establishment of the Annual Volunteer Award at the municipal level of the Sisak-Moslavina County.

 

  1. Tailore-made professional trainings for civic education teachers that focus on topics of social justice, active citizenship and inclusion of vulnerable groups.

 

  1. Direct funding of the school volunteer clubs activities by its founders.

 

  1. Direct funding of the school volunteer clubs activities form the European Social Fund Plus and/or national budget.
